Our project partner Borèal Bikes will provide the Holescene Edge, a research bike featuring state-of-the-art technology used for connectivity, for edge computing, and as a human machine interface. The bike is equipped with sensors similar to those found on current autonomous vehicles. The sensor array includes 5 cameras for a complete 360° view, and 5 LiDAR sensors to provide spatial information about the bike’s surroundings. The bike’s purpose is to combine sensors and components that are used in intelligent transport systems (ITS) with reliable baseline data. This data is similar to that sourced from connected automated vehicles (CAV), but gathered from a bike’s perspective. It serves the development of applications integrating the bicycle into intelligent traffic systems, and the further validation of such technologies.
